Duct Tape For Wart Removal? - An Unusual But Successful Home Therapy!
Posted on: September 29, 2011
What have all the following items in common: hanging posters, fixing broken tail light on a vehicle, repairing wallpapers, fixing broken hoses, holding down wiring on floor, applying straight lines when painting?
Answer: they all depend on using some duct tape.
One can use a duct tape for just about anything. Could duct tape also be the perfect treatment for the removal of warts?
There are many who swear by this remedy, and some even consider it more effective than cryotherapy. There are 2 different approaches, each producing exceptional results.
In the first procedure, one applies the tape to the wart, keeping it on for a minimum of six days. Afterwards, soak the lesion and eventually pare it down with an emery board.
In the second method, one applies an over-the-counter salicylic acid solution to the wart before retiring at night. This followed by a 1-2 minute drying time. Then apply the duct tape. Ensure the area is thoroughly covered. Then remove th tape the following morning.
Repeating these steps every night, the wart tissue will gradually disappear. Each time one removes the tape, this also removes some of the wart tissue.
There are a some disadvantages to this "duct tape on wart" treatment method. First, with the repeated application of duct tape, the area can turn intensely red and soggy where the tape sits all night.
If this happening, simply miss a day or two of treatment. Allow the skin around the wart to breathe and dry. After the skin returns to normal, one continues with the treatment.
This is also a gradual process. One can not see results overnight. Finally, treating your wart with duct tape requires patience. It is not a "quick fix" which one slaps on the unsightly growth and see it vanished the following morning, as if it never existed.
Also, it does not work for everyone.
A curious problem of duct tape wart removal is the lack of understanding of the working mechanism. There are some weird theories, none terribly convincing! In reality, this is not a serious problem since how to get of warts is the main question, and one is mainly concerned with a form of treatment that works.
